Horn Relay

  1. Remove horn relay from power distribution center. Measure resistance between terminals No. 85 and 86 at horn relay (component side). See Fig 1 . Resistance should be 70-75 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace horn relay.
  2. Check continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87 at horn relay (component side). Continuity should not exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87a at horn relay (component side). Continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace horn relay.
  3. Using fused jumper wires, connect positive battery voltage to terminal No. 86 and ground to terminal No. 85 at horn relay (component side). Check continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87 at horn relay (component side). Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87a at horn relay (component side). Continuity should not exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace horn relay. If continuity is as specified, relay is okay at this time.
