Occupant Restraint Controller (Orc)

ORC is mounted on transmission tunnel floor panel, under instrument panel. ORC contains impact sensor, energy reserve capacitor and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). ORC determines direction and severity of impact, deploys front air bags and monitors system readiness. In the event of a system fault, ORC lights AIR BAG warning light and records Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). DTCs and information regarding frequency and elapsed time of faults are stored in OBD memory until DTC is resolved and memory is cleared.
