Transponder ID Mismatch; Transponder Response Mismatch

  1. Ensure battery is fully charged. Using scan tool, read Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) DTCs. Record DTCs and erase. Turn ignition off and back on again. Wait approximately 3 minutes before attempting to read DTCs. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If no additional DTCs are set, go to next step. If EEPROM ERROR DTC is also set, go to step  4.
  2. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If TRANSPONDER ID MISMATCH or TRANSPONDER RESPONSE MISMATCH DTC is history, go to next step. If TRANSPONDER ID MISMATCH or TRANSPONDER RESPONSE MISMATCH DTC is current, go to step  7.
  3. Start engine several times using each of customer keys. Using scan tool, check for SKIM DTCs. If TRANSPONDER DTC sets, replace SKIM. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE (SKIM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If TRANSPONDER DTC does not set, test is complete.
  4. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If EEPROM ERROR DTC is history, go to next step. If EEPROM ERROR DTC is current, replace SKIM. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE (SKIM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Using scan tool, erase all SKIM DTCs. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Start engine 20 times and then check for SKIM DTCs. If EEPROM ERROR and TRANSPONDER DTCs set, replace SKIM. If EEPROM ERROR DTC sets, go to next step. If TRANSPONDER DTC sets, go to step  7. If neither DTC sets, test is complete.
  6. Using scan tool, erase all SKIM DTCs. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Start engine 20 times and then check for SKIM DTCs. If EEPROM ERROR DTC sets, replace SKIM. If EEPROM ERROR DTC does not set, test is complete.
  7. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS, SKIM KEY TEST. Follow screen prompts on scan tool. Test ignition key in SENTRY KEY TESTER. If ignition key passes the key test, go to next step. If ignition key does not pass the key test, erase DTCs and program new key to SKIM. Go to SKIM MODULE  under PROGRAMMING.
  8. Place key in ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, select MISCELLANEOUS, then PROGRAM NEW KEY. Read CURRENT KEY status. If PROGRAMMING SUCCESSFUL is displayed, erase DTCs. Testing is complete. If PROGRAMING FAILED is displayed, replace SKIM. Go to SKIM MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. If MAXIMUM KEY LIMIT is displayed, no additional keys can be programmed. If status is not displayed, replace SKIM.
