All Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From One Switch

  1. Lower both front door windows. Turn ignition off and close all doors. Lock and unlock doors from all door lock switches, including door lock key cylinder switches (if equipped with VTSS). Observe door locks. If all doors fail to lock and unlock from one switch, go to next step. If symptom is different, go to another symptom test that matches malfunction description. See POWER LOCKS/RKE SYSTEM .
  2. If vehicle is not equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with VTSS and problem is with left front door lock key cylinder switch, go to DRIVER DOOR DISARM SWITCH INPUT  under VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM (VTSS). If vehicle is equipped with VTSS and problem is with right front door lock key cylinder switch, go to PASSENGER DOOR DISARM SWITCH INPUT  under VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM (VTSS). If vehicle is equipped with VTSS and problem is not with either front door lock key cylinder switch, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage while holding suspect door lock switch in LOCK position. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and either BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 8 (White/Dark Green wire) for left front door or terminal No. 18 (White/Light Green wire) for right front door. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Hold suspect door lock switch in LOCK position and measure voltage. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Disconnect suspect door lock switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) on suspect door switch connector. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire circuit between junction block and suspect door lock switch.
  6. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Light Green wire between BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 18 and right door switch connector terminal No. 4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Dark Green wire between BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 8 and left door switch connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms on either circuit, repair open in faulty door lock switch circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms on either circuit, replace faulty door lock switch.
