All Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch

NOTE: Door lock driver terminals No. 12 and 13 on BCM 20-pin connector C5 do not apply to Sebring Convertible.
  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. DLC is located above hood release handle on driver's kick panel. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE on scan tool. If scan tool displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECT; IGNITION VOLTAGE TOO LOW; NO RESPONSE FROM BCM (BAT PWR DISCON'D); BATTERY POWER TO MODULE  under COMMUNICATIONS. If scan tool displays another message, go to appropriate symptom for bus failure procedure under COMMUNICATIONS .
  2. Lower both front door windows. Turn ignition off and close all doors. Lock and unlock doors from all door lock switches, including door lock key cylinder switches (if equipped with VTSS). Observe door locks. If all doors fail to lock and unlock from any switch, go to next step. If symptom is different, go to another symptom test that matches malfunction description. See POWER LOCKS/RKE SYSTEM .
  3. Ensure ignition key is removed. Using scan tool, actuate door locks. If door locks operate, go to next step. If door locks do not operate, go to step  9.
  4. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery voltage in circuit between left or right door lock switch and Body Control Module (BCM). See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Hold left door lock switch in lock position. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect left front door lock switch White 4-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and left door lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Pink wire). If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire between left door lock switch and BCM.
  7. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure and Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Dark Green wire between BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 8 and left door lock switch White 4-pin connector terminal No. 4. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in White/Dark Green wire.
  8. Reconnect left front door lock switch White 4-pin connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 8 (White/Dark Green wire). Depress left front door lock switch to LOCK position and measure voltage. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace both door lock switches. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  9. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery voltage in White/Dark Green wire (terminal No. 8) or White/Light Green wire (terminal No. 18) between door lock switch and BCM 20-pin connector C5.
  10. Remove and inspect fuse No. 5 (10-amp), located in junction block. See Figure. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and go to step  18. If fuse is open, go to next step.
  11. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and fused battery voltage terminal (internal circuit) on fuse No. 5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to step  14.
  12. Remove BCM and ensure connectors are clean and no terminals are pushed out. Repair as necessary and replace fuse No. 5. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
NOTE: Door lock and unlock driver terminals No. 2, 3, 12 and 13 on BCM 20-pin connector C5 do not apply to Sebring Convertible.
  13. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and each door unlock and lock driver (No. 1-4 and 10-13) terminal on BCM 20-pin connector C5. If voltage at any terminal is greater than .5 volt, repair driver suspect circuit(s) for short to voltage. Replace BCM and fuse No. 5. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage at all terminals is .5 volt or less, replace BCM and fuse No. 9.
  14. Replace fuse No. 5 and press door lock switch to LOCK position. If fuse blows, go to next step. If fuse does not blow, go to step  16.
  15. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure. On Sebring Convertible, using DVOM, measure resistance at BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminals No. 10 (Orange/Black wire) and No. 11 (Orange/White wire). On all models except Sebring Convertible, using DVOM, measure resistance at BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminals No. 10 (Orange/Black wire), No. 11 (Orange/White wire), No. 12 (Orange/Tan wire) and No. 13 (Orange/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair shorted door lock driver circuit, replace fuse No. 5 and BCM (relay in BCM will be damaged). If resistance 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM and replace fuse No. 5.
  16. Press door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If fuse blows, go to next step. If fuse did not blow, system is operating properly.
  17. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure. On Sebring Convertible, using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminals No. 1 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and No. 2 (Pink/Dark Blue wire). On all models except Sebring Convertible, using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminals No. 1 (Pink/Light Blue wire), No. 2 (Pink/Dark Blue wire), No. 3 (Pink/Black wire) and No. 4 (Dark Blue/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair shorted door unlock driver circuit, replace fuse No. 5 in junction block and replace BCM (relay in BCM will be damaged). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater on any of tested circuits, replace BCM and fuse No. 5.
  18. Using DVOM, measure voltage on battery voltage side (Red/White wire) of fuse No. 5. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Red/White wire between junction block and Power Distribution Center (PDC).
  19. Disconnect and remove BCM from junction block. Ensure 12-pin internal connector is clean and not damaged. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM 12-pin internal connector terminal No. 2. See Figure and CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block.
  20. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM 12-pin internal connector terminal No. 10. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black (ground) wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
