Open Passenger Door (Right Rear) Ajar Circuit; Courtesy Light Inoperative With Right Rear Door (Except Sebring Convertible)

  1. Disconnect right rear door ajar switch and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Connect a jumper wire between ground and right rear door ajar switch connector (Tan/Pink wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display PASS AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays PASS AJAR: CLOSED, replace right rear door ajar switch.
  2. Ensure right rear door ajar switch ground strap is clean and not damaged. Repair or replace ground strap as necessary. If ground strap is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Locate BCM 20-pin connector C5 at junction block. See Figure. DO NOT disconnect connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 16 (Tan/Pink wire). See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display PASS AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays PASS AJAR: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Pink wire.
  4. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Check BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 16 for damage. If terminal is damaged, repair as necessary. If terminal is okay, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
