Open Passenger Door (Right Front) Ajar Circuit; Courtesy Light Inoperative With Right Front Door (All Models)

  1. Disconnect right front door ajar switch. Connect a fused jumper between right front ground and door ajar switch connector terminal (Tan wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, read right front door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays PASS DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PASS DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right front door ajar switch.
  2. Ensure right front door ajar switch connector is clean and not damaged. Ensure right front door ajar switch ground strap is clean and not damaged. Repair or replace ground strap as necessary. If ground strap and connector are okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Locate BCM 20-pin connector C5 at junction block. See Figure. DO NOT disconnect connector. Backprobe a jumper wire between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 17 (Tan/Pink wire on Sebring Convertible, Tan/Orange wire except Sebring Convertible). See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Using scan tool, read right front door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays PASS DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Pink or Tan/Orange wire between right front door ajar switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display PASS DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Check BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 17 for damage. If terminal is damaged, repair as necessary. If terminal is okay, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
