BUS Bias Level Too High; BUS Bias Level Too Low
NOTE:
Perform body verification test after each repair. See BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
NOTE:
Ignition off during BUS test is most common cause for this trouble code.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped. TCM is located next to power distribution center in left front corner of engine compartment. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located next to air filter housing. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster. Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace instrument cluster. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), if equipped. SKIM is located at ignition lock cylinder. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace SKIM. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE (SKIM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB. Anti-lock brake controller module is mounted on right inner fender panel of engine compartment. Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace CAB. See CONTROLLER ANTI-LOCK BRAKE (CAB) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off and wait 5 minutes. Disconnect Air Bag Control Module (ACM) 13-pin connector. ACM is located under center console. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace ACM. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (ACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors C1 and C3. BCM is connected to junction block. Turn ignition on. If test is being performed for BUS BIAS TOO HIGH, go to next step. If test is not being performed for BUS BIAS TOO HIGH, go to step 10.
- Turn ignition off and wait 5 minutes. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and each CCD BUS (+) terminal on BCM 14-pin connector C1 and 22-pin connector C3. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to voltage.
- Turn ignition off and wait 5 minutes. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and each CCD BUS (-) terminal on BCM 14-pin connector C1 and 22-pin connector C3. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to voltage. If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off and wait 5 minutes. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and each CCD BUS (+) terminal on BCM 14-pin connector C1 and 22-pin connector C3. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is 17 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 17 k/ohms, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to ground.
- Measure resistance between ground and each CCD BUS (-) terminal on BCM 14-pin connector C1 and 22-pin connector C3. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is less than 17 k/ohms, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to ground. If resistance is 17 k/ohms or more, replace BCM.
