Removal (Sebring Convertible)

NOTE: When replacing the rear brake shoes on this vehicle, remove the brake shoes form only one side of the vehicle at a time. This is due to the automatic adjustment feature of the parking brake system. If the brakes shoe assemblies are removed from both rear wheels at the same time, the adjuster will remove all the slack from the parking brake cables making installing of the brake shoes extremely difficult.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies. Remove rear brake drum to hub retaining clips, if equipped. Remove the brake drum. Remove the automatic adjuster lever actuating spring from the leading brake shoe. See Figure . Remove the automatic adjuster actuating lever form the leading brake shoe.
  2. Thread the automatic adjuster star wheel all the way into the adjuster, removing all tension from the adjuster. Remove the upper return spring from the brake shoes. Remove the brake shoe lower return spring. Remove the hold down spring and attaching pin from the leading brake shoe. See Figure .
  3. Remove the leading brake shoe from the brake support plate. Remove the automatic adjuster from the trailing brake shoe and parking brake actuating lever. Remove the retaining clip holding the park brake actuating lever to the trailing brake shoe. Remove the hold down spring and attaching pin from the trailing brake shoe. Remove the trailing brake shoe from the brake support plate and parking brake actuating lever
