Sebring Convertible

NOTE: Normally rear drum brake shoes do not require adjustment, as automatic adjuster assembly is used. Adjustment procedure is an initial brake adjustment to be used after replacing brake shoes to speed up brake shoe adjustment time.
  1. Raise and support vehicle so rear wheels are free to rotate. Ensure parking brake lever is fully released. Remove the rubber access plug from the brake adjuster access hole in the brake support plate. See Fig 1 .
  2. Insert a thin screwdriver through the adjuster access hole in the brake support plate. Engage the tip of the screwdriver with the star wheel on the automatic adjuster. Move the handle of the screwdriver downward (toward the ground). Rotate star wheel on automatic adjuster assembly until slight rear wheel drag is felt while rotating rear wheel.
  3. Using a second small screwdriver, hold adjuster lever away from star wheel on automatic adjuster assembly. Rotate star wheel until rear wheel spins freely with no brake drag. Reinstall access plug. Repeat adjustment procedure for other wheel. Install the rubber plugs into the adjuster access holes in the brake support plates. Lower vehicle.
  4. Apply and release the parking brake lever one time. This will correctly adjust the tension of the parking brake cables. Road test vehicle for proper brake operation.
