Removal (2.5L)

- Disconnect remote ground cable from ground stud located on left strut tower. To prevent accidental grounding, connect ground cable insulator to tower ground stud. See Figure .
- Remove PCV hose from air chamber on front of intake manifold. Remove air chamber bolt. Unlatch air cleaner lid from housing. Loosen air inlet hose-to-throttle body clamp. Remove air chamber, air cleaner lid and air inlet hose as an assembly.
- Remove cruise control cable (if equipped) and throttle cable from throttle body. Remove vacuum hoses and electrical connectors, then remove throttle body from intake manifold. Leaving cables attached, remove throttle and cruise control cable bracket from intake manifold. Remove EGR tube from EGR valve and intake manifold.
- Remove cruise control wiring harness (if equipped). Remove cruise control servo, and position aside. Remove brakelines from master cylinder, then disconnect master cylinder from brake booster. Remove vacuum harness and electrical connector from purge solenoid. Remove purge solenoid. Remove dipstick and dipstick tube.
- Remove vacuum hoses to check valve on brake booster. From inside of vehicle, use screwdriver to pull retaining clip off brake pedal pin. Discard retaining clip. Remove 4 brake booster-to-firewall nuts. From engine compartment, remove brake booster.
