Front & Rear Brake Caliper, Rotor & Pads: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1999 Plymouth Breeze, 1999 Dodge Stratus, 1999 Chrysler Cirrus, 1998 Plymouth Breeze, and 1998 Dodge Stratus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Remove 2 caliper-to-knuckle guide pin bolts. Pull lower end of caliper out from machined abutment on steering knuckle, and roll caliper out and away from brake disc. Pad assemblies will remain with caliper. Support caliper with wire.
  2. Remove rotor from wheel mounting studs. Remove outboard pad by prying between pad and caliper assembly. Remove inboard pad by pulling pad and lining assembly away from piston. Compress caliper piston if new pads are to be installed.
