Removal (2.0L & 2.4L)

- Disconnect remote ground cable from ground stud located on left strut tower. To prevent accidental grounding, connect ground cable insulator to tower ground stud. See Figure . Remove cruise control wiring harness (if equipped). Remove cruise control servo, and position aside.
- Remove vacuum harness and electrical connector from purge solenoid. Remove purge solenoid. Remove vacuum hoses to check valve on brake booster. To obtain clearance for brake booster removal, remove EGR valve transducer assembly and vacuum hoses from EGR valve. See Figure .
- Remove 2 master cylinder-to-brake booster nuts. Remove master cylinder and brakelines as an assembly, and position aside. From inside of vehicle, use screwdriver to pull retaining clip off brake pedal pin. Discard retaining clip. Remove 4 brake booster-to-firewall nuts. From engine compartment, remove brake booster.
