Cylinder Head

Remove valves. See appropriate ENGINE OVERHAUL PROCEDURE article in GENERAL INFORMATION. On exhaust valves, remove snap ring. See Figure. Clean head of all scale, oil, sealing compound and carbon deposits. Clean oil passages. Using compressed air, check for blockade in oil passages. Measure cylinder head for warpage and cylinder head height. See CYLINDER HEAD  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Repair or replace as necessary.
