Oil Pump: Inspection

  1. Inspect components for damage. Using straightedge and feeler gauge, check rotor side clearance. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table. Repair or replace as necessary.
  2. Install outer rotor in pump body. Measure clearance between outer rotor and pump body. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table. Repair or replace as necessary.
  3. Install inner rotor, and measure clearance between inner and outer rotors. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table. Repair or replace as necessary.

Application Specification
Inner-To-Outer Rotor Tip Clearance .0024-.0071" (.06-.18 mm)
Rotor Side Clearance .0016-.0039" (.04-.10 mm)
Rotor-To-Pump Body
Standard Value .0039-.0071" (.10-.18 mm)
Limit .0138" (.35 mm)
