Without Cruise Control

  1. Turn all accessories off. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Ensure engine RPM is correct. Turn ignition off. Check accelerator cable for sharp bends. Check for excessive free play or absence of free play at accelerator cable. Accelerator cable free play should be .04-.08" (1-2 mm). If either condition exists adjust cable.
  2. To adjust accelerator cable, turn ignition on for about 15 seconds. This will allow Idle Air Control (IAC) motor to initialize. Loosen accelerator cable adjusting bolts. See Fig 1. Slide accelerator cable plate away from throttle body until throttle lever starts to move.
  3. Move accelerator cable plate back toward throttle body .04-.08" (1-2 mm) and tighten accelerator cable adjusting bolts to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . After adjusting accelerator cable, ensure throttle lever stopper touches fixed SAS. See Fig 2.
