Cirrus & Stratus (2.5L V6)
- With engine off, disconnect hose from PCV valve, and plug PCV valve nipple. Disconnect idle purge hose from vacuum nipple at throttle body. See Fig 1 . Attach Air Metering Fitting (6457) to manifold-mounted idle purge hose. Orifice size is .125" (3 mm). Connect scan tool to vehicle.
- Ensure engine is at operating temperature (cooling fan cycles on and off at least once). Turn off all lights and accessories. Using scan tool, access MINIMUM AIRFLOW IDLE SPEED. The Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor should fully close, idle spark advance should be fixed and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will go into open loop (enriched). Ensure proper RPM is displayed on scan tool.
- Check idle RPM (minimum airflow rate) with tachometer. See MINIMUM AIRFLOW RATE SPECIFICATIONS table. If minimum airflow rate is correct, turn engine off, and disconnect all test equipment.
- If minimum airflow rate is more than specification, check IAC motor operation using scan tool. If IAC motor is not functioning properly, replace IAC motor. If IAC motor is functioning properly, replace throttle body.
- If minimum airflow rate is less than specification, clean throttle body assembly. If after cleaning throttle body assembly, minimum airflow rate is not within specification, problem is not being caused by throttle body assembly.
