Valve Springs

  1. With valve spring out of cylinder head, measure valve spring free length. Also measure valve spring length with valve spring under pressure. Replace spring if it is not within specification. See VALVES & VALVE SPRINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Measure squareness of spring. See VALVES & VALVE SPRINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. To install valve spring, ensure valve spring is positioned with identification color toward spring retainer.
