Fuel Pressure Solenoid (Talon Turbo)

  1. Disconnect fuel pressure solenoid valve electrical connector and vacuum hoses. Identify vacuum hoses for reassembly. Fuel pressure solenoid is located in left rear corner of engine compartment. See Fig 1.
  2. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to fuel pressure solenoid valve hose vacuum nipple "A". See Fig 2. Apply vacuum to solenoid. Vacuum should leak. If vacuum leaks, go to next step. If vacuum does leak, replace fuel pressure solenoid valve.
  3. Plug fuel pressure solenoid valve hose vacuum nipple "B". See Fig 2. Apply vacuum to solenoid. Vacuum should hold. If vacuum holds, go to next step. If vacuum does hold, replace fuel pressure solenoid valve.
  4. Unplug fuel pressure solenoid valve nipple "B". Using jumper wires, connect fuel pressure solenoid valve to battery voltage. With battery voltage applied to solenoid valve, apply vacuum to solenoid valve nipple "A". See Fig 1. Vacuum should hold. If vacuum holds, go to next step. If vacuum does hold, replace fuel pressure solenoid valve.
  5. Using a DVOM, measure resistance across fuel pressure solenoid valve terminals. See FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID VALVE RESISTANCE table. If resistance is not within specification, replace fuel pressure solenoid valve. If resistance is within specification, fuel pressure solenoid valve is functioning properly.
