Avenger, Sebring & Talon Non-Turbo

  1. Remove Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MFI) or fuel pump relay. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between relay terminals No. 4 and 6. See Fig 1. Resistance should be 35-75 ohms. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, replace relay.
  2. Using a jumper wire, connect relay terminal No. 6 to positive battery terminal. Using another jumper wire, connect relay terminal No. 4 to negative battery terminal. See Fig 1.
  3. Relay should activate. When relay activates, DVOM should display continuity between relay terminals No. 2 and 8. If relay activated and DVOM displayed continuity, relay is functioning properly. If relay did not activate or DVOM did not display continuity, replace relay.
  4. Disconnect jumper wire from battery negative terminal. Relay should de-energize. DVOM should show infinity. If DVOM displays infinity, relay is functioning properly. If DVOM does not display infinity, replace relay.
