Rocker Arms & Push Rods: Removal

  1. Remove air intake plenum (upper intake manifold). See INTAKE MANIFOLD  . Disconnect spark plug wires. Disconnect closed ventilation system and evaporation control system components from valve cover (if necessary).
    NOTE: When disassembling rocker arm assemblies, mark component locations for reassembly. Components must be installed in original locations.
  2. Remove valve cover. Remove rocker arm and shaft assembly bolts. Remove rocker arm assembly. If removing push rods, mark component locations for reassembly reference.
CAUTION: DO NOT operate engine for 20 minutes after rocker arm installation. This allows valve lifters to bleed down.
