Cylinder Head: Inspection

  1. Check cylinder head for warpage. Resurface head if warpage exceeds .00075" (.0191 mm) per 1" (25 mm) span. DO NOT grind more than .008" (.20 mm) from cylinder head surface or cylinder block deck surface.
  2. Hold a straightedge across threads of cylinder head bolts. Check that cylinder head bolt threads contact straightedge in all areas. If threads fail to contact straightedge, bolts are stretched and must be replaced.
