Sending Units (Fuel Tank, Temperature & Oil Pressure)

NOTE: When a problem occurs with any gauge requiring a sensor or sending unit to operate it, before disassembling cluster to test gauge(s), check for loose connections or faulty wiring before replacing gauge or sending unit.
  1. Disconnect connector lead from sending unit or sensor being tested. Turn ignition on and ground connector lead.
  2. A grounded input should cause gauge to read at or above its maximum reading. If gauge does not respond as indicated, problem is in gauge or in wiring.
CAUTION: Disconnect battery cable prior to servicing instrument panel components.
