Valve Springs: Notes

Measure free length of valve springs. See VALVES & VALVE SPRINGS  table at end of article. Check each valve spring for squareness in degrees (out-of-square). Measure installed height of springs. Replace springs if not within specifications.

NOTE: Valve springs must be installed with enamel coated side toward valve spring retainer.
