Removal (All Others)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain coolant. Remove complete air cleaner assembly. Index mark accelerator cable adjustment, disconnect and remove cable from carburetor.
  2. Disconnect coolant hose(s), fuel hoses, electrical harness connectors, vacuum hose connector and all vacuum hoses from carburetor assembly. Remove carburetor assembly and gasket.
  3. Remove upper radiator hose, water hose and by-pass hose from intake manifold. Disconnect heater hose and brake booster vacuum hose from manifold. On models equipped with A/C, disconnect coolant temperature switch and/or engine coolant temperature sensor.
  4. Determine if A/C system requires discharging to remove compressor and compressor bracket out of the way when removing intake manifold. Support compressor out of the way.
  5. Disconnect engine coolant temperature gauge unit. Remove intake manifold mounting nuts and/or bolts. Remove intake manifold assembly and manifold gasket from engine block.
