Removal & Installation (Conquest)

  1. To relieve fuel pressure, remove floor panel in luggage compartment. Disconnect electrical connector near fuel pump. Start engine and let engine run until it stops. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Drain coolant from engine and radiator. Disconnect air intake pipe from throttle body. Disconnect throttle linkage and all electrical connectors. Remove throttle body assembly. Disconnect radiator hose and remove thermostat housing and thermostat from intake manifold.
  3. Remove secondary air cleaner and air pipe. Remove oil dipstick assembly. On models with A/C, determine if system requires discharging in order to remove and support compressor assembly out of the way. Remove compressor bracket.
  4. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose and remove hose joint. Disconnect coolant hose at rear of intake manifold. Disconnect all external electrical connectors from sending units and sensors. Remove EGR valve.
  5. Remove intake manifold nuts and bolts. Remove intake manifold assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace all gaskets and "O" rings. Inspect and replace any vacuum or coolant hoses if cracked. If replacing thermovalve, sending units or sensors, use proper sealant on threads before installation.
