Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. Ensure that cylinder block and cylinder head gasket surfaces are clean where head gasket will contact. Install cylinder head gasket with identification mark facing up and toward front of engine. To install cylinder head, reverse removal procedure.
  2. Tighten head bolts in 2 to 3 steps before final torque is achieved. Replace all gaskets and "O" rings. Replace semi-circular packing (half-moon seal) on front of cylinder head and apply sealant to all contacting surfaces of seal.
