Disassembly & Inspection

Disassemble pump. Note mating marks on pump gears. See Fig 1. With gears in pump body, check tip clearance between gears and pump body. Place straightedge across pump body to check gear side clearance.
Check clearance between straightedge and both gears. Replace gear set or pump assembly if not within specification. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS table. Ensure relief valve slides freely in pump body bore. Inspect relief valve spring for damage and spring free length.
