  1. Simultaneously press "STEP" and "US/MET" buttons. Turn ignition on and release both buttons. If odometer displays "EIC", go to step 2). If there is no display, check fuses and verify battery and ignition voltage at cluster connector. If fuses and voltage checks are good, replace cluster.
  2. Press "STEP" button to begin first 5 internal tests. If all displays illuminate and "5" is displayed in speedometer, the first 5 internal tests have passed. If all displays do not illuminate, replace cluster.
  3. If "1", "2", or "3" are displayed in speedometer, check if word "FAIL" is displayed in odometer. If so, replace cluster. If "4" is displayed in speedometer and "FAIL" is displayed in odometer, replace odometer memory chip.
  4. Begin test 6 by pressing "STEP" button. Individual segments should be displayed in sequence. Verify that all segments are illuminated. If all displays are lit, and if speedometer displays a "6", this indicates end of test. If segments of display are shorted (grouped together), replace cluster.
  5. Begin test 7 by pressing "STEP" button. Gauge scales and symbols should illuminate. If scales or symbols do not light, replace cluster. If scales and symbols light, and if speedometer displays a "7", this indicates end of test. Instrument cluster gauges are good. Problem is outside of cluster. Return cluster to normal operating mode by pressing "US/MET" button.
  6. Begin traveler test by simultaneously pressing "STEP" and "US/MET" buttons. Turn ignition on and release both buttons. If there is no display, check fuses and verify battery and ignition voltage at cluster connector. If fuses and voltage checks are good, replace cluster.
  7. If all segments illuminate, begin distance sensor diagnostic test by pressing "STEP" button. If vehicle is moving and display is "A0", check for defective distance sensor or short in wiring. If sensor and wiring are okay, replace cluster. If vehicle is not moving display should be "A0".
  8. Begin fuel flow sensor diagnostic test by pressing "STEP" button. If engine is running and display is "60", check for defective fuel flow sensor or short in wiring. If sensor and wiring are okay, replace cluster. If engine is not running, display should be "60".
  9. Begin fuel tank sensor diagnostic test by pressing "STEP" button. Display will show a "C" along with a number. Divide number displayed by 8 to determine gallons of fuel in tank. If number is incorrect, check for open circuit, short circuit, or defective fuel tank sending unit.
  10. Press "STEP" button to display fuel tank selection. Display will show "d3" to indicate that traveler is calibrated for a 14 gallon tank. Return cluster to normal operating mode by pressing "STEP" button.
