Instrument Panel - Standard: Testing: Ammeter

Turn headlights on. DO NOT  start engine. Ammeter needle should move toward "D" or discharge position. If ammeter shows discharge, ammeter is okay. If needle does not move, check terminals for loose wires. If terminals are secure, ammeter is defective. If meter moves toward "C" or charge position, the connections are reversed.
