Odometer Memory Chip: Installation
- Before inserting replacement chip into cluster or transferring old chip to new cluster, inspect pins of chip to make sure they are straight and perpendicular to chip body. If not, align pins. Chip should be placed lightly in the socket with the notch to the left.
- Make sure that each of the 14 contact pins is in contact with the lip of the socket pin. Press chip into position with special pliers. Make sure that odometer chip notch is installed in the same position as when removed. Replace access door and install cluster.
NOTE:
If installing new chip in old cluster, actual vehicle mileage must be recorded to satisfy Federal regulations. Place sticker with mileage on door jamb. Chips with duplicate mileage are available from manufacturer.
