Executive, Laser XE, LeBaron Convertible, New Yorker & 600 ES Turbo Convertible
- Simultaneously press "TRIP" and "TRIP RESET" buttons. Turn ignition on. Release "TRIP" and "TRIP RESET" buttons. If there is no display, check fuses and verify battery and ignition voltage at cluster connector. If voltage checks good, replace cluster.
- If odometer displayed EIC in step 1), begin 5 internal tests by pressing "US/MET" button. If all vacuum fluorescent displays do not illuminate, replace cluster.
- If all displays lighted in step 2), check speedometer display. If "1", "2", or "3" are displayed in speedometer, check if word "FAIL" is displayed in odometer. If so, replace cluster. Use original odometer memory chip. If "4" in speedometer and "FAIL" in odometer are displayed, odometer memory chip is defective. Replace with new chip.NOTE: When switching clusters, original odometer memory chip must be switched to new cluster or actual vehicle mileage must be recorded to satisfy Federal regulations. Place sticker with mileage on door jamb. Chips with duplicate mileage are available from manufacturer.
- If all vacuum fluorescent displays illuminate and "5" is displayed in speedometer, the first 5 internal tests are passed. To begin test 6 press "US/MET" button. Individual segments should be displayed in sequence. All segments should all be illuminated. If so and speedometer displays "6," test is complete. If segments of display are shorted (grouped together), replace cluster.
- To begin test 7 press "US/MET" button. Gauge scales and symbols should be illuminated. A "7" in speedometer indicates end of test. If scales or symbols do not light, replace cluster.
- To begin test 8 push "US/MET" button. Check that gauge warning lamps within cluster light sequentially. If warning lamps did not light, replace cluster. An "8" in speedometer indicates end of self-diagnostic test. Cluster is good and problem is outside of cluster. To return cluster to normal operating mode, press "US/MET" button.
