Rear Axles - 9 1/4" & 1967-72 9 3/4" Ring Gear Integral Housing: Overhaul: Pinion: Installation

  1. Remove tool and rear pinion bearing cup, then place correct shim pack in housing cup bore. Install rear bearing cup (see above), then remove tool and pinion bearing cones.
  2. Lubricate rear cone and install on pinion stem with Tool DD-955 (9 3/4" axle), Tool C-4040 (9 1/4" axle), then install drive pinion and bearing assembly and original front pinion bearing shim pack and bearing cone.
    NOTE: DO NOT install oil seal yet.
