Differential Case: Disassembly

  1. Mount differential case assembly in soft-jawed vise, then remove ring gear attaching bolts, and carefully knock off ring gear.
  2. If drive gear runout exceeded.006" (see above), check differential case flange runout as follows: With case bearing cups installed, remove spreader tool, then mount dial indicator contacting flange face of case. Total runout should not exceed.003"
