Removal Procedure
When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
When a liftgate hydraulic system component is removed, installed or disconnected, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle, liftgate hydraulic system, or personal injury.
DO NOT exceed the limit of the liftgate power assist actuator ball socket joint's free motion during installation to prevent possibility of damage to the actuator.
Use a flat-bladed tool to open the quarter window trim finish panel bolt cap.
- Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (1) - Remove
- Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (2) - Remove
- Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.
- Grasp and gently pull up on the body lock pillar upper trim panel.
Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)
Remove the 2 metal clips (1) at the ends of the liftgate power assist actuator (2).
- Liftgate Power Assist Actuator (2) - Remove
Liftgate Strut Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Liftgate Strut Bracket (2) - Remove
