Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Disconnect the front side door wiring harness electrical connectors (1).

    Front Side Door Check Link Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

  4. Mark the location of the front side door hinges with a grease pencil to aid in alignment during installation.
  5. Support the door before removing the hinge fastener.
  6. Front Side Door Hinge Bolt - Door Side - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [8x]
  7. With the aid of an assistant, remove the front side door. (3)

    Instrument Panel Assembly (1) - Remove - Instrument Panel Removal and Installation (UDC) , or Instrument Panel Removal and Installation (URO)

    Windshield Wiper Arm - Left Side and Right Side (3) - Remove [2x]

    1. Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the windshield wiper arm finish cap (1) from the windshield wiper arm (3).
    2. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
    3. Use the BO-49385  Wiper Arm Puller to remove the wiper arm (3) from the wiper motor pivot shaft.

    Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    1. Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]
    2. Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal (2) - Remove [2x]

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    1. Apply two layers of masking tape around the top edge of the service part to prevent paint damage.
    2. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the air inlet grille panel extension clips.
    3. Remove the air inlet grille panel extension (1) from the air inlet grille panel and upper front fender.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove

    1. Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [8x]
    2. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
    3. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges to remove.

    Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (1) @ Plenum Lower Panel - Remove

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (1) @ Brake Master Cylinder - Remove

    Remove the caps.

  17. Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt - Left Side (1) @ Body Hinge Pillar Inner Panel - Remove [2x]

    Remove the caps.

  19. Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt - Right Side (1) @ Body Hinge Pillar Inner Panel - Remove [2x]

    Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  21. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  22. Heater and Air Conditioning Remote Control Bracket (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  24. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector (2) - Remove

    Front Floor Console Rear Air Duct Retainer (1) - Remove

  26. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (1) @ Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace - Remove

  28. Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Bolt (2) - Remove

    Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Bolt (1) - Remove

  30. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove
  31. Disconnect the electrical connector. (3)

    Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

    Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

  34. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove [3x]

    {Without BTM} Disconnect the electrical connectors. (1) [3x]

    Steering Column Lower Support Bracket Bolt (2) - Loosen [2x]

  37. Steering Column Nut (1) - Remove [2x]
  38. Swing down the steering column (3) to access to the electrical connector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

  40. {If equipped} Disconnect the electrical connector. (2)

    Steering Column Lower Support Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  42. Steering Column Assembly (2) - Reposition away

    Front Side Door Sill Trim Plate Clip - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

  44. Front Side Door Sill Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
    1. Reposition the front floor panel carpet as needed.
    2. Starting at the rear of the garnish molding, pull upward at the B-Pillar joint to disengage garnish molding.
    3. Work your way forward disengaging all of the garnish molding clips then pull rearward to disengage the clip on the forward vertical wall.

    Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]

  46. Disconnect the electrical connectors. (2)

    Disconnect the electrical connectors. (1)

    Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.

    Support the HVAC module in order to prevent damage.

  57. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel tie bar assembly from the vehicle. (1)
  58. Transfer components as necessary.
