Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.
- Pull the windshield garnish moldings (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
- Access the windshield garnish bolts (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish moldings (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
- Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Windshield Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Trim Plate Strap Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Instrument Panel Instrument Cluster Hood (2) - Remove
With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Bolt Cover - Left Side (1) - Remove
With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Bolt Cover - Right Side (1) - Remove
Driver Information Display Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]
Driver Information Display (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Communication Interface Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Communication Interface Module Bracket (2) - Remove
With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.
- Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Left Side (1) - Remove
Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle (1) @ Instrument Panel Knee Bolster - Remove
Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel knee bolster (1).
- Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel switch trim plate (1).
- Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Extend the steering column to its furthest point to allow the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover to clear the instrument panel.
Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.
Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Bolt (1) - Remove
- Release the retainers with a suitable plastic trim tool.
- Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique - Left Side (2) - Remove
Rotate the steering wheel left and right to access the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover bolts (1).
- Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
- Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (2) - Remove
Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet - Left Side (2) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel center trim plate applique (1).
- Instrument Panel Center Trim Plate Applique (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Heater and Air Conditioning User Interface Control Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Heater and Air Conditioning User Interface Control (2) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel trim plate applique (1).
- Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique - Right Side (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet (2) - Remove
With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.
- Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Right Side (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet - Right Side (2) - Remove
Open the instrument panel compartment door.
- Instrument Panel Compartment Door (2) @ Instrument Panel Compartment Door Dampener (1) - Disconnect
Lift the instrument panel compartment door (1) up using a suitable tool and take the instrument panel compartment door (1) out from the instrument panel compartment.
Instrument Panel Compartment Door (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Lower Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]
- Instrument Panel Lower Insulator Bolt (2) - Remove
- Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (3) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel accessory bezel (1).
- Instrument Panel Accessory Bezel (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Front Floor Console (1) - Remove - Front Floor Console Removal and Installation
Front Floor Console Storage Tray Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
Front Floor Console Stowage Tray (1) - Remove
{With K4C} Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)
{With K4C} Instrument Panel Compartment Air Duct (1) - Disconnect
Instrument Panel Compartment Bolt (1) - Remove [12x]
Instrument Panel Compartment (1) - Remove
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to depress the steering wheel airbag access hole cover detents to remove the 2 covers (1).
Steering Wheel Airbag Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Steering Wheel Airbag (2) - Remove
- Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping
Loosen the steering wheel bolt (1) so that 2 - 3 threads are engaged.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Wiggle the steering wheel until the wheel disengages completely.
- Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Remove
- Steering Wheel (2) - Remove
Release the retaining tabs.
- Turn Signal Switch (1) @ Turn Signal Switch Bracket - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Release the retaining tabs.
- Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch (1) @ Turn Signal Switch Bracket - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Release the retainers with a suitable plastic trim tool.
- Forward Collision Alert Display Bezel (1) - Remove
Forward Collision Alert Display Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Forward Collision Alert Display (2) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to aid in the removal of the sensor from Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille.
- Sun Load Temperature and Ambient Light and Security Indicator Sensor (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Instrument Panel Bolt (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]
Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Connector Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Instrument Panel Wiring Harness (2) - Remove
Instrument Panel Bolt (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]
Instrument Panel Airbag Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
- Instrument Panel Compartment Door Latch Striker Bolt (2) - Remove
- Retainer (3) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- NOTE:
There may be few different retainers captured in the graphic.
Retainer (1) - Remove [7x]
- Disconnect the electrical connector and release the wiring harness retainers as necessary. (2)
Wiring Harness Connector (1) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:
There may be few different retainers captured in the graphic.
Retainer (1) - Remove [4x]
Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel assembly (1) from the vehicle.
Insert the flat tip driver (3) in between the airbag chute (2) and the air bag module hook (1) at the dotted line or base of hook.
- Tilt the flat tip driver forward until the air bag module hooks (1) break or bend enough to relieve the tension and allow for easier removal of the airbag from the chute.
Instrument Panel Airbag (1) - Remove
- Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping
- Transfer components as necessary.
Tether and Bolt are integral to the Windshield Garnish Molding.
