Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

  3. Pull the windshield garnish moldings (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
  4. NOTE:

    Tether and Bolt are integral to the Windshield Garnish Molding.

  5. Access the windshield garnish bolts (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish moldings (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
  6. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  8. Windshield Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  10. Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate (1) - Remove

    Release the plastic retaining tabs.

    Instrument Panel Trim Plate Strap Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

    Instrument Cluster Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Release the retaining tab.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  25. Communication Interface Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

    Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel knee bolster (1).

    Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) - Remove

    Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel switch trim plate (1).

  35. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate (1) - Remove
  36. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  37. Extend the steering column to its furthest point to allow the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover to clear the instrument panel.

    Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.

    Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Bolt (1) - Remove

  40. Release the retainers with a suitable plastic trim tool.

    Rotate the steering wheel left and right to access the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover bolts (1).

    Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel center trim plate applique (1).

    Using a flat-bladed tool, release instrument panel trim plate applique (1).

    Open the instrument panel compartment door.

    Lift the instrument panel compartment door (1) up using a suitable tool and take the instrument panel compartment door (1) out from the instrument panel compartment.

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to depress the steering wheel airbag access hole cover detents to remove the 2 covers (1).

    Steering Wheel Airbag Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  82. Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  83. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  84. Steering Wheel Airbag (2) - Remove

    Loosen the steering wheel bolt (1) so that 2 - 3 threads are engaged.

  87. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  88. Wiggle the steering wheel until the wheel disengages completely.

    Release the retaining tabs.

  92. Turn Signal Switch (1) @ Turn Signal Switch Bracket - Remove

    Release the retainers with a suitable plastic trim tool.

    Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.

  120. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel assembly (1) from the vehicle.

    Insert the flat tip driver (3) in between the airbag chute (2) and the air bag module hook (1) at the dotted line or base of hook.

  122. Tilt the flat tip driver forward until the air bag module hooks (1) break or bend enough to relieve the tension and allow for easier removal of the airbag from the chute.
