Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
Verify the scan tool parameter: Up and Down Shift Switch = Inactive
- If not the specified state
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the specified state
Set the parking brake and chock the wheels.Apply and hold the brake pedal.
Engine at Idle While in Drive
S2 Automatic Transmission Manual Shift Shaft Position Switch - L
Verify the scan tool parameter: Electronic Transmission Range Selection Request = Active
- If not the specified state
  Refer to: DTC P073D, P073E, P07E4, P07E5, P16F4, P1787, or P1789
- Go to next step: If the specified state
Press and hold the switch: S2 Automatic Transmission Manual Shift Shaft Position Switch - -
Verify the scan tool parameter: Up and Down Shift Switch = Downshift
- If not the specified state
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the specified state
Press and hold the switch: S2 Automatic Transmission Manual Shift Shaft Position Switch - +
Verify the scan tool parameter: Up and Down Shift Switch = Upshift
- If not the specified state
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the specified state
Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
All OK.
