Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Test 1

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: X129 Inline Harness Connector
  3. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  4. NOTE:

Testing for steps 4 to 5 is performed on the control module K20 side of the harness connector.

  5. Test for 12 V (±2 V) between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Ground
    • If not the specified value
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X2@K20 Engine Control Module
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 1@X129 Inline Harness Connector & Control circuit terminal 53 X2@K20 Engine Control Module
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
    5. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
    6. Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 1 & Ground
      • If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V - Replace the component:K20 Engine Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the specified value
  6. Test for 0.30 V (±0.20 V) between the test points:Control circuit terminal 2 & Ground
    • If not the specified value
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X2@K20 Engine Control Module
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control circuit terminal 2 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2@X129 Inline Harness Connector & Control circuit terminal 25 X2@K20 Engine Control Module
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
    5. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
    6. Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2 & Ground
      • If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V - Replace the component:K20 Engine Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the specified value
  7. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  8. NOTE:

Testing for steps 7 to 8 is performed on the component side of the harness connector.

  9. Test for less than 20 ohms between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Control circuit terminal 2
    • If 20 ohms or greater
    1. Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: Q44 Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
      • Control circuit terminal 1 @ X129 Inline Harness Connector & Control circuit terminal 2 @ Component harness
      • Control circuit terminal 2 @ X129 Inline Harness Connector & Control circuit terminal 1 @ Component harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: Q44 Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve
    • Go to next step: If less than 20 ohms
  10. Test or replace the component:Q44 Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve
