Rear Access Open

Manual Liftgate 

The driver information center will display the Rear Access Open message when the body control module (BCM) detects that the liftgate is open. The instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting illumination. If the vehicle is in the forward or reverse gear position, the BCM activates an audible warning.

Power Liftgate 

The rear gate module detects the rear gate latch unlatch switch is closed to ground indicating the liftgate is open. The driver information center receives a serial data message from the rear gate module indicating the liftgate ajar status and the driver information center display the Rear Access Open message
