Intake Camshaft Park Lock (Without Park Lock Solenoid)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

During engine off, engine idling conditions, and engine shutdown, the camshaft actuator is held in the park position. Internal to the CMP actuator assembly is a return spring and a locking pin. During non-phasing modes of the camshaft, the rotational spring rotates the camshaft rotor back to the park position, and the spring-loaded locking pin locks the CMP actuator sprocket to the camshaft. When directed to the apply chamber of the CMP actuator, applied oil pressure first hydraulically pushes the park lock pin out of position (unlocked) allowing motion of the actuator rotor.
