Transmission Condensation Reduction after Fluid Flush

Depending on duty cycle and region humidity, water ingestion through vent is possible. The result is degraded friction performance. The transmission warm up method below should minimize condensation in torque converter clutch friction material and transmission vent internal baffle. Friction performance improvement may require customer driving more than 200 miles additional.
Recommended method for warming up transmission:
- With left foot firmly on the brake pedal, put transmission into drive or reverse.
- With the left foot remaining firmly on the brake pedal and zero vehicle movement, apply right foot lightly on the accelerator pedal at approximately 1100 rpm engine speed/less than 100 N.m (74 lb ft) engine torque). Continue warming up transmission for 10 to 15 minutes until transmission reaches 110°C (230°F).
- Drive the vehicle until transmission fluid has returned to 90°C (194°F). The transmission fluid temperature may continue to climb to 120°C (250°F) while starting short drive.
- Verify slip performance recovery. Collect steady throttle 89-113 km/h (55-70 mph) GDS2 data to confirm TCC slip performance.
CAUTION:
To obtain the required transmission temperature, warm up the torque converter and transmission sump slowly following the procedure. Failure to follow the procedure as indicated may result in transmission component damage.
