Circuit/System Verification

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system:
    • B23 Camshaft Position Sensor
    • B34 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
    • B52 Heated Oxygen Sensor
    • B66 Intake Air Temperature Sensor
    • B74 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
    • B75C Multifunction Intake Air Sensor
    • Q17 Fuel Injector
    • Q38 Throttle Body
    • Engine Misfire
    • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System
    • Fuel Trim System
    • Go to next step: If a related DTC is not set
  3. Engine - Idling - At Operating Temperature
  4. Verify the scan tool parameter: MAP Sensor = 19 to 42 kPa (2.7 to 6 PSI)
    • Go to next step: If between 19 and 42 kPa (2.7 and 6 PSI)
  5. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  6. Verify the following conditions do not exist:
    • Exhaust System - Leaking/Missing components/Restricted - Refer to: Symptoms - Engine Exhaust
    • Fuel - Contaminated/Poor Quality - Refer to: Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis
    • Fuel Injectors - Leaking/Restricted - Refer to: Fuel Injector Diagnosis
    • Ignition System - Malfunction - Refer to: Electronic Ignition System Diagnosis
    • Intake Air Duct - Loose Clamps/Leaking/Restricted/Visible Damage
    • Intake Manifold - Leaking
    • Mass Airflow Sensor - Contamination of the measuring element/Water intrusion
    • Mechanical Condition@Engine - Altered air flow

      For example:

      • Cylinder Head@Intake PortorExhaust Port - Restrictions/Casting Flash
      • Intake Manifold - Restrictions/Casting Flash/Vacuum leak
      • Intake Valve or Exhaust Valve - Stuck/Leaking
      • Lock Pin@Valve Rocker Switching Arm - Broken/Stuck
      • Valve Rocker Switching Arm - Binding or Sticking/Mechanically stuck/Visible Damage/Worn
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation System - Incorrect connection/Leaking/Restricted
    • Vacuum Hoses - Incorrect connection/Kinked/Leaking/Restricted
    • If a condition exists

      Repair or replace as necessary

    • Go to next step: If no condition exists
  7. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets

A condition with the system still exists - Repeat the procedure starting at step 3

    • Go to next step: If no DTC is set
  8. All OK.
