| B310 Fuel Pressure/Temperature Sensor | The assembly contains the following components: Pressure [2x] The sensor is a capacitive pressure transducer. Electronics in the sensor convert pressure into a digital voltage signal. The sensor is equipped with two sensors. The primary output of the sensor is used for control, while the second output is used to diagnose the primary output. Temperature [2x] The sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor. As the temperature of the air, fluid, or metal increases, the resistance of the sensor decreases, varying the voltage on the signal circuit. The sensor is equipped with two sensors. The primary output of the sensor is used for control, while the second output is used to diagnose the primary output. |
| K20 Engine Control Module | The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs. The control module controls a series of actuators to ensure optimal engine performance. The control module does this by reading values from a variety of sensors, interprets the data and adjusts the engine actuators accordingly. |
The fuel rail pressure sensor transmits fuel pressure and temperature information via serial data to the control module K20. The sensor's internal microprocessor allows 4 separate sensor outputs from one 3 wire sensor.
The control module uses the fuel rail pressure sensor to constantly adjust the high pressure fuel pump's feed rate so that the ideal pressure is maintained in the high pressure section (between the high pressure fuel pump and the injectors) by means of a closed loop control.
