Installation Procedure

    Ensure the cylinder head locating pins (5) are securely mounted in the engine block deck face.

  2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket (4) using the deck face locating pins for retention.
  3. Cylinder Head (3) - Install

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    Cylinder Head Bolt M8 x 80.8 (3) - Install NEW and tighten in sequence [2x]

    1. First Pass: 15 N.m (11 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: 75 degrees
  5. Cylinder Head Bolt M11 x 178 (4) - Install NEW and tighten in sequence [8x]
    1. First Pass: 60 N.m (44 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: 185 degrees

    Valve Lifter-Left Side - Install - Valve Lifter Replacement - Left Side

    Camshaft Carrier-Left Side (2) - Install - Camshaft Carrier Resealing - Left Side 

  9. Camshaft-Left Side - Install - Camshaft Replacement - Left Side 
  10. Position wire harness and connect as necessary.

    Install the upper vacuum pipe bolt (2). Vacuum Pump Pipe Replacement

    12. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  12. Install ground wire and ground wire bolt. Tighten bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

    Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Install - Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement
