Installation Procedure

- NOTE:
Laser Etched or ID flats- Correct Camshaft Location - Bank 1 (A)
Exhaust Camshaft - Right Side (1) - Install
- Make sure the camshaft flats with laser etched markings are straight up in relation to the cylinder head and that the crankshaft is in the stage 2 position. The crankshaft key way will be at approximately the 3 o'clock position. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram
- Ensure the flat is facing upward when installed to help when installing timing chains.
- Intake Camshaft - Right Side (2) - Install
- Make sure the camshaft flats with laser etched markings are straight up in relation to the cylinder head and that the crankshaft is in the stage 2 position. The crankshaft key way will be at approximately the 3 o'clock position. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram
- Ensure the flat is facing upward when installed to help when installing timing chains.
Dowel Pin (1) - Install [2x]
- Camshaft Bearing Cap - Intermediate (2) - Install
- Camshaft Bearing Cap (3) - Install
- Camshaft Bearing Cap (4) - Install [2x]
- Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (5) - Install and hand tighten [14x]
Dowel Pin (1) - Install [2x]
- Camshaft Bearing Cap (2) - Install
- Camshaft Carrier Bolt (3) - Install and hand tighten [4x]
- Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (4) - Install and hand tighten

CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [14x]
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 60 degrees
- Camshaft Carrier Bolt (2) - Tighten in sequence [4x]
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 45 degrees
- Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (3) - Tighten in sequence
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 45 degrees
Camshaft Position Actuator (1) - Install [2x] - Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement - Bank 1
NOTE:
Laser Etched or ID flats- Correct Camshaft Location - Bank 1 (B)
