Installation Procedure

- NOTE:
Laser Etched or ID flats- Correct Camshaft Location - Bank 2 (C)
Intake Camshaft - Left Side (1) - Install
- Make sure the camshaft flats with laser etched markings are straight up in relation to the cylinder head and that the crankshaft is in the stage 1 position. The crankshaft key way will be at approximately the 11 o'clock position. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram
- Ensure the flat is facing upward when installed to help when installing timing chains.
- Exhaust Camshaft - Left Side (2) - Install
- Make sure the camshaft flats with laser etched markings are straight up in relation to the cylinder head and that the crankshaft is in the stage 1 position. The crankshaft key way will be at approximately the 11 o'clock position. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram
- Ensure the flat is facing upward when installed to help when installing timing chains.
- NOTE:
When installing camshaft bearing cap, make sure number on the cap is in the proper order and arrow on cap facing toward front of engine.
Camshaft Bearing Cap (1) - Install
- Camshaft Bearing Cap (2) - Install [2x]
- Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (3) - Install and hand tighten [12x]
Dowel Pin (1) - Install [2x]

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 45 degrees
- Camshaft Carrier Bolt (2) - Tighten in sequence [4x]
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 45 degrees
- Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (3) - Tighten in sequence [12x]
- First Pass: 6 N.m (53 lb in)
- Final Pass: 60 degrees
Camshaft Position Actuator (1) - Install [2x] - Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement - Bank 2
