Cleaning and Inspection Procedure - Required

- Remove old thread sealant, gasket material or RTV sealant using the EN-28410 Gasket Remover.
- Clean the camshaft carriers using a non corrosive solvent.
- Clean out debris from the bolt holes.
- Dry the camshaft carriers with compressed air.
- NOTE:
The camshaft carrier is not a serviceable component if damaged replacement of the cylinder head is required.
Inspect the camshaft carrier for the following conditions:
- Damage to the camshaft bearing cap bolt holes (1)
- Damage to the camshaft carrier bolt holes (2)
- Damage to the top sealing surface (3)
- Damage to the camshaft bearing cap bolt holes (4)
- Damage to the engine oil manifold check valve mounting areas (5)
- Damage to the bottom sealing surface (6)
- Damage to the camshafts mounting surface areas (7)
- Damage to the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve holes (8)
- Replace the camshaft carrier and cylinder head as necessary.
NOTE:
Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
