Single Use Fasteners and Components

Preliminary Procedure 
Clutch Assembly Replacement (M13) , or Clutch Assembly Replacement (MJK, MH3, MM6)
1 Engine Flywheel Bolt [8x]
CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Install the NEW bolts loosely by hand. If necessary, remove EN-51701-2  holder and rotate the secondary mass using EN-51701-1  aligner and a breaker bar to align the holes in the secondary mass with the primary mass.
  2. To prevent crankshaft rotation, install EN-50792  holding tool and starter motor bolts at the starter motor location, engaging the flywheel.
  3. Tighten the bolts evenly using the following procedure:
    NOTE:

    Fasteners have adhesive patch and must be tightened to final torque within 5 minutes.

    Tighten

    1. Tighten the bolts a first pass in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the bolts a final pass in sequence 80 degrees using the EN-45059  meter.

  • EN-51701  Flywheel Aligner and Holder

2 Engine Flywheel
Procedure 
Clean and inspect flywheel. Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection 
NOTE:

EN-51701-2  holder and EN-51701-1  aligner may be installed on the flywheel to maintain alignment of the secondary mass to the primary mass.
